Fussy Food Plates - Our Story

As a busy mum of three young children, I know how stressful mealtimes can be. We all want our kids to be happy and healthy — but between tired evenings, endless mess, and fussy eating phases, it can quickly become overwhelming.

With over 18 years of experience in STEM and nutrition, I’ve seen first-hand how science, psychology, and sensory learning all play a role in helping children build a positive relationship with food. But as a parent, I realised that what my children needed most wasn’t more pressure to eat — it was more freedom to explore, play, and have fun with food.

That simple idea changed everything.

After 15 months of research, product development, and countless mealtime trials, I created Fussy Food Plates — a playful, sensory-led mealtime tool designed to transform stress into smiles.

Each plate is designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence at the table. It’s not about perfection — it’s about progress, one bite (and one smile) at a time.

We’re here to help families take the pressure out of mealtimes and rediscover the joy in feeding. Through science-backed strategies, sensory exploration and a big dose of fun, we’re transforming how children experience food and how parents feel about feeding.

Since launching in 2023, Fussy Food Plates has grown from a kitchen-table idea into a global brand loved by families around the world — from San Francisco to Sydney and everywhere in between.

Our products have been proudly featured in homes, schools, and sensory-friendly dining initiatives, and they’ve received overwhelmingly positive reviews from parents, educators, and child-feeding specialists.

In August 2023, Mrs. Hinch shared Fussy Food Plates with her 4.7M Instagram followers — sparking a wave of excitement and new customers across the UK and Ireland.

Celebrity chefs Donal Skehan, Lili Forberg, and Little Lou Cooks have all used our plates in their own family kitchens, while Today FM’s Ray Foley Show, Ireland AM, and Newstalk have featured our story on air.
